Hello, my name is Catherine Barrier, and I'm running for the Franklin Board of Education (BOE).
As a 37-year Franklin resident and a career academic who has taught composition, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and English as a Second Language (ESL) at the college level, I am passionate about students and teaching and am aware of what our young people need to succeed, not only
in higher education but also in life. I am, therefore, running for the Franklin BOE to ensure that every Franklin student gets the solid education that will be needed for the future. Having lived here in town for decades now and seen our property taxes continually rise, in large measure because of the school taxes, I
am committed to working to see that our children and grandchildren get the education they need in a fiscally responsible and transparent way.
As your former Councilwoman-At-Large (2000-2003), I proved myself as a fiscally responsible decision maker and continually voted in the interest of the people of Franklin, and the experience I gained being in office at the local level should prove valuable as I go forward to serve Franklin in this different capacity
should you, the parents and residents of Franklin, entrust me with this new responsibility.
When not teaching or serving Franklin in other ways, I enjoy reading, singing, playing the piano and the guitar, crocheting, embroidering, traveling, writing, and, among other things, learning new languages, that is, continuing to learn.
On or before November 4th, please vote for me for Franklin Board of Education, so I can start working to make Franklin an even better place for our young people to be educated. Thank you.
